Sunday 14 June. Vancouver

Up at 5.15 and on the shuttle bus at 6.00. A group of young Japanese guys on the bus were able to tell us that Australia beat Türkiye last night. They were on their way to Dallas to see Japan play. The Air Canada check-in area was terribly crowded, with few staff to assist. This got Lorraine very hot and bothered, but we had a beautiful flight to Vancouver so she is in charity with Air Canada again.

Flying over the Rocky Mountains was awe inspiring. They seemed to go on forever and you could see ridges with pencil lines of snow really clearly. Just breathtaking!

We are currently “enjoying” a 10 hour layover in Vancouver and have walked up and down and through the many duty free stores. There are lots of FIFA decorations about. One of us has a bit of an obsession with Adirondack chairs of all sizes. Have also done Wordle and Waffle and read Phillip and Melinda’s latest adventures in Italy.

Feeling very grateful for the comforts of the Maple Lounge.
