Quebec

Today we did a bit more exploring of our neighbourhood. Caught the bus to a shop recommended by our host but didn’t open till the afternoon. Obviously not the same Boxing Day sales mentality as we have. So we caught the bus back and checked out another area where there were supposed to be some nice bars to go to for a drink. But they were nothing special and little open because of the holidays.

Back to our normal bus and into town to the nice street near where Sarah lived. Had a lovely, and very welcome, cuppa and cake there. It was heaven to get in out of the cold.

Off then to explore the Plains of Abraham, site of a disastrous battle between the French and British. We had to very careful walking as it was so icy. No setting off cross country, we needed to keep to the road. It was amazing to see people skiing through a park in the middle of a city.

The museum we wanted to visit was closed today but we hope to see it on Friday. Back into the old city for lunch, a bit more wandering, then back on the bus to this morning’s shop. Unfortunately they didn’t have the Christmas decoration that Karyn was interested in but we both bought a neck warmer to wear tomorrow. We were also amused by a blow up Santa who was just a bit too big to take home.

  3. Hi girls and Merry Christmas. Hard to believe you are freezing while hot here. Mind you I think we were in the coolest spot in Oz. Buderim was lovely, cool breezes. Had a very nice Christmas with Ellies family and now back at Enoggera. I'll head off to Kiama tomorrow for New Year. Take care walking girls and keep warm.xxx

  5. Plains of Abraham look painfully cold. It was very different when we were there. Wouldn't mind having a ski across them though! Take care on the ice.

  6. Hi Glad you enjoyed your Christmas( I meant to write on Christmas day but could not remember my password when we were at Gary's for Christmas!)I have been following your blogs with interest. Canada is a much nicer county than USA I found. How french is Quebec?
Seem to remember that you sprained something in England while walking on snow/ice last year, so please take care walking.
Forget the cold as you will be back in sunny OZ before you know it!

  7. Greetings from Calgary - arrived here from Banff today, ready to fly to Toronto tomorrow, where we’re expecting colder temperatures. We appreciate our neck warmers, a wise purchase! (Although if I choose a warm, covered-up chin & cheeks, I also get fogged-up glasses and can’t see!!) Boxing Day saw quite a few shops open in Banff, but the supermarket didn’t open until today. (One can live on souvenirs, obviously.) Have fun!!
