Monday 30 May
We had a substantial breakfast at the hotel because we didn't know when we might get another meal. Today was a travel day starting with a taxi to Tijuana airport at 8.00 am. We asked the driver about the local elections which are next week and he said that the problem in Mexico is the government corruption. Then we asked what he thought of Mr Trump and he said he was a crazy man. But generally he preferred Republicans over Democrats because the U.S. economy impacts on Mexico.
A good flight to Mexico City and a longish wait for our connecting flight to Havana. Found some very ordinary airport food. There are no cafes where you can sit down so we took our lunch to a quietish departure lounge. Fortunately it was right opposite our departure gate.
Arrived at the Hotel Presidente around midnight after a 3 hour time change from Tijuana to Mexico City to here. There was a bit of sitting on the tarmac and another bit of waiting for our luggage, but the fastest ever immigration queue. It is 37 degrees and humid. The hotel had put aside a salad for us, so the man in the bar kindly served us. Then we gratefully crawled into bed. It's hot!
37 degrees! Phew!
